Upon entering the Aagra Taj Branch to do the interviews, the first thing I noticed was the presence of Haji Yaqub Saheb, chatting and laughing with a staff member. This pleasantness continued throughout the duration of our interview with him. Haji Yaqub informed us with great pride that he was the very first person to open an account at Tameer’s Agra Taj branch. He has an account with a commercial bank in Aagra Taj but felt Tameer was like his own branch, his own home because the staff looks after him. Because of the excellent service provided to him, he has persuaded several of his acquaintances to open their accounts at the Tameer.

Haji Yaqub has his own business of transporting goods from the Karachi Port to various locations in the city and vice versa. At times goods are delivered outside Karachi to smaller towns. Haji Yaqub lives in Lyari with his extended family. His two sons run the day to day business, while he has the supervisory role.

Pay Order and an ATM facilities are required on an urgent basis at the Branch said Haji Saheb. Having these at the branch will bring in more customers. ATM facility will greatly benefit the local community (for making payments after office hours and on holidays). The other only (commercial) bank in the area also does not provide this facility.
