SHABIR AHMED makes and sells saris and dopattas from his workshop at his home in Korangi. Last August, he took a loan of Rs 25,000 from Tameer so that he could buy his own dyeing machine instead of outsourcing this work. “We were spending too much getting our materials dyed from outside and realised we would not be able to expand our business until we started dyeing our own cloth. For that we needed to purchase our own dyeing machine. That is how we used our loan from Tameer, “says Shabir. Now that they have their own dyeing machines, Shabir and his family don’t have to rely on outside vendors to complete their work and they have more control over their business. In future, Shabir would like to cut out outsourcing altogether by purchasing his own weaving and pressing machines. “We are very happy with this bank – it has helped us move forward,” says Shabir.
