Khuda ki basti resident SHAKEEL took a loan of Rs 30,000 from Tameer for his embroidery business last April. He buys cloth from Sindhi Hotel Market, adds hand woven designs on to the cloth and sells the finished pieces at Jama Cloth Market. The loan has allowed Shakeel to buy more cloth and to hire an extra worker (karigar) thus increasing his output and profits.

Shakeel’s dealings with Tameer also led to another positive outcome: when his wife Shaista heard about the bank she applied for a job here and she became our first woman MBA last May. Shakeel plans to get a top up and his future plans include building a special work room for his karigars and opening his own cloth market in Khuda ki Basti.
