MUHAMMAD RAZI needed funds to purchase supplies for his sheermal restaurant, situated across the street from our QC Branch Orangi Town, but had been repeatedly turned down by the banks he approached due to lack of paper work and eventually resigned his business to stagnation. When Tameer sales officer Khurram Razi offered Razi a loan, things began to change.
After what he calls a "very cooperative" initial interaction. Razi got a loan of Rs. 50,000 with which he purchased much needed supplies and a Rs. 15,000 nihari cooker, thereby not only sustaining but expanding his business.
"Before the loan I was just getting by," says Razi, "now I am in business!" Razi says his customers are thrilled with the new nihari offering and he is now thinking of other ways to increase his earnings. "I can afford to give my daughter pocket money now" says Razi proudly.
Razi was born in Karachi, Pakistan and has lived in Orangi since the 70s. He is 44 years old with six children.
